Crumbs in the pond

Ducks and fish in a pond.
Fountains tumbling water
Creating huge splashes
and tiny ripples.

Metal chairs for lounging
fill with artists, tourists,
families, school children.

A grandma, a mom, and two sisters picnicking -
Baguettes, salami, cheeses
And Nutella crepes.

Two sisters bring crumbs
To the pond edge.
From deep in the pond
Long grey fish leap to the surface
And snatch the bread.







Ducks dash towards the snacks.
The ducklings are
too slow and frustrated.

The sisters throw bites closer
to the little ones.
And smile as the crumbs
vanished.
