Gaming in Paris

Today we went to a game store called Oya Jeux a Jouer, which means oh ya games to play. This store has lots of games for customers to try. They teach you how to play it and can speak English or French. They have games for all ages. You can play one game for 5 Euros per person and a second game costs 3 Euros more. You can play for as long as you want and as many times as you want to. If you have trouble you can ask someone and they will help you because they all know the games really well. They even include a drink while you play.

First we had to pick a game. A man named Jeffery helped us. He suggested to play Augustus. Augustus is a game about trying to complete missions to get points. The missions came be completed by getting resources and placing legionnaires on the mission cards. Once a card is finished you control it and get its special ability (points, attacking others, gaining end of game points, extra legionnaires, or reusing legionnaires. The resource cards are randomly pulled out of a bag by the caller. The resources were catapult, wagon, fox, defense, offense, and shield. Next in the game there are bonus points for combinations (like three pink cards, three leaders, or green cards). You could also get bonus points for wheat and gold. The game reminded me of some of the games we play at home. I liked that it was random, there was luck, it went quickly (under 30 minutes), and it was pretty easy to play - Ryan and Dylan will be able to play if we buy it. We played it two times. The first time mommy won and the second time Cassie won. Both times I was second and they were close games.
We played a second game that was called Alhambra. IT took a bit longer - about an hour. This game was about building a Spanish Castle. Cassie did a really good job. She had a huge number of rooms that were worth lots of points. She won the game. This stor was on our dream list and it was perfect on a cold, rainy, mucky day in Paris.
Tomorrow we are going to Rome! Hopefully the weather is better!
